WALKING THROUGH ROMANS

A Theological Journey for Spiritual Formation

Walking Through Romans is a structured, in-depth learning experience designed to guide believers into theological clarity, spiritual maturity, and a deeper understanding of God’s faithfulness.

This series is not about surface-level teaching or passive listening. It is about formation—engaging the text historically, theologically, and practically so that faith is not only understood but embodied.

Each lesson builds on the one before it, moving participants through the full argument of Romans—from the reality of the human condition to the revelation of God’s righteousness, and ultimately into a transformed life shaped by faith.

HOW THE COURSE IS STRUCTURED

Each lesson is anchored in a specific portion of the text and explored through:

  • Historical and cultural context

  • Theological development

  • Structured breakdown of the passage

  • Clear synthesis of Paul’s argument

  • Practical application for daily life

Participants engage through:

  • Video teachings

  • Downloadable Summary Notes

Session 1 – Setting the Tone

Participants are introduced to the foundation of the study by understanding how the book of Romans must be approached before it is read. This session establishes the historical, cultural, and theological framework necessary to interpret Paul’s letter accurately.

Learners explore the nature of Romans as a carefully constructed argument written to a diverse community navigating tension, and are guided through four key movements that reveal the purpose and direction of the letter.

Session 2 – The Gospel Revealed

Participants explore the foundation of Paul’s message by defining the gospel and understanding its central role in the letter. This session clarifies that the gospel is not abstract, but rooted in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Learners examine how Paul introduces his identity, establishes Christ’s authority, and presents faith as trusting allegiance, setting the stage for the rest of the letter.

Teaching Link starts at the 7:35 mark

Session 3 – The Human Condition Exposed

Participants examine Paul’s diagnosis of humanity, showing how truth is known but suppressed when the Creator is replaced with creation. This session highlights the progression from distorted worship to distorted thinking and ultimately distorted living.

Learners gain clarity on the human condition as a universal reality, revealing the need for the gospel to restore alignment with God.

Session 4 – The Human Condition Exposed (Cont'd)

Participants explore how the human condition is not limited to those without the law but also affects those who possess it. This session highlights the tension between knowing truth and living it, exposing moral and religious hypocrisy.

Learners examine how God’s judgment is impartial, accountability is universal, and true identity is defined by inward transformation rather than outward expression.

Teaching Link starts at the 9:30 mark

Session 5 – The Human Condition Concluded

Participants explore Paul’s final argument that the human condition is universal, impacting both Jews and Gentiles alike. This session brings clarity to the role of the law, showing that it reveals sin but cannot make people right.

Learners see that God remains faithful, yet righteousness cannot be achieved through effort, pointing to the need for a solution beyond human ability.

Session 6 – Righteousness Disclosed

Participants explore the turning point of Paul’s argument, where God’s righteousness is revealed apart from the law. This session shifts from human inability to divine provision, showing how right standing with God comes through faith in Jesus Christ.

Learners examine justification, grace, and redemption, gaining clarity that righteousness is received, not earned, and that God has made a way for all to be made right.

Teaching Link starts at the 8:15 mark

Session 7 – The Priniciple of Faith

Participants explore how righteousness is credited through faith using Abraham as the model. This session highlights faith as active trust in God’s promises, not dependent on works or external markers.

Learners see how faith positions them to rely on God beyond what they see, anchoring their identity in His promise rather than their circumstances.

Teaching Link starts at the 8:47 mark

Session 8 – Righteousness Experienced

Participants explore what happens after righteousness is received by faith, focusing on the real-life results that flow from being made right with God. This session highlights how faith produces peace with God, access to grace, and a confident hope that extends beyond present circumstances.

Learners examine how pressure develops endurance, character, and hope, while also gaining clarity on God’s demonstrated love through Christ and the security found in reconciliation. This session reveals that faith is not only believed, but lived, producing tangible results in both present reality and future assurance.
